What does it take for us to thank a person? To say it genuinely, to really mean it, that we have appreciated whatever the person has done to us, no matter how small or big the matter really is. Because saying thank you goes a long way.
I have a friend. An 'acquired' friend. I dont see her much around. Truthfully, initially I have my own reserve opinion about her. Like an aged housewife, I am weary of some, and perhaps a degree of cynicism too. But she's there. From time to time. No matter how I build walls around me, she is still there. For little things. Things that I consider mundane stuffs that she just felt she wants to do. And slowly, I saw the genuinity in her. The sincerity. My respect grows day by day. I acknowledge what she has done. And I appreciated each and every one of them. One day, I expressed my gratitude towards her. Just in the form of a simple text message. The reply I received a few minutes later touched me. And I realize, just how, sometimes, our good intentions are not valued as much by others no matter how much effort we put into it.
If anything, appreciating is not simply an act of being all grandiose and gift showering..
