Thursday came and went. The morning started with a blur of activities and class discussions that I minimally participated on - as my mind was too preoccupied with the amazing anatomy of human's head, neck and thorax regions. I pretty much zoned out that it took me a few seconds to realize that Prof Schwartz was asking me questions (that my brain could hardly processed at that time). Ugh.

Then the rat race game began at 11. Was one of the last persons to enter the lab, which meant that I've hardly calmed myself down before the first buzzer went off. The first few questions were asking for some sort of alien answers that were not at the top of my head - possibly confounded with my dazeness at that time. The next couple of questions didnt fare better either, and the rat race pretty much turned into a guessing game for me. When the rat race ended, I was one of the first persons to leave though. How ironic. But I just couldnt stand the flurry of voices floating around, the cheeriness and mostly, the heated discussions of answers.

Went home, had a light lunch, played some stuffs to take my mind off the test and went to lectures till 5. And to uphold my title as a geek(of course of course), I went to (my second home. HAH!) medlibrary, spent some time studying for my cal test. Alhamdullillah, I passed that. At least one thing was going right that day. =) And the night was spent (mostly) watching tv with Sharon. =)

Thursday this week was quite different than the previous few weeks' thursdays. Not just because of the rat race either. I felt a pang of sadness over the end of my Poetry class. I've actually missed it.
I miss pretending that I was not a whitecoat science geek but was actually a creative arts student - who has a passion for literature. What I studied during my Humanities Elective is very very much different from my course - but somehow, that just work perfectly. I immersed myself in the works of the early poets, imagined how it was during the Victorian Era and even earlier periods than that, the times when poems were considered the biggest form of entertainment. Learnt the art of stringing words together, getting the rhyme and meter right - and even write my own 2 poems. I decided to write 2 sonnets, Elizabethan style of rhythm, but a tetrametric.

And the walk from my place to the main campus area was ... nostalgic. At times, dejavu washed over me, as I traced my steps, the pathway I used to walk just 2 years ago. When I first arrived in Dunedin. It wasnt too long ago. And yet, it seemed a lifetime ago sometimes. But somethings never really change. The (occassional) donuts lady is still there, the St David Cafe where I used to sit while waiting for my monday 5oclock english lecture, the ducks which inhabit River Leith and the vibrant and happy faces of students (most of whom are first year Health Sci students) - which strangely disturbed me for some reasons; seeing how young they looked to me...
Uh. I am old.

Life just takes a fast pace sometimes.
