majestic king.

I met the king today. And yesterday. And the day before yesterday. On the first day, saw the king walking up the steps as I was running downstairs. I stopped for a bit and greeted him hello. you see, it had been a while since I saw the king. Apparently, king does climb stairs too.
On the second day, I saw the king again, and this time I was running too. Running from one ward to another ward trying to find my team. I saw the king's big smile from afar, and I knew that a happy smile crept up my face too. you see, it had been a while since I saw the king smile. But apparently, as rare as it is, king does smile too.
And today, I saw the king again in the meeting. As I sat there listening intently, it was no wonder why he was the king. I nudged Ann by my side, whispering and giggling quietly about the king as he rambled on and on about the hospital politics. Arguments followed by arguments. Mostly his arguments. And in the end, the king won. Of course.

It was ironic how I seemed to stumble upon the king now more than I used to when I was still his subject. God. I remembered that 5 weeks, how James Ann and I had tried so hard just to be noticed by the seniors in the team. Huhu. We saw less of the consultants - they didnt seem to know what to do much about us three anyway. I remembered the full-packed days (and nights) we had just to prove that we were worth it. And it was only towards the end of the run did the consultants actually realized how many of us 4th year students were in their team. heh.

One of the consultants, Mr U, was the king - he was the more intimidating of the two, the more formidable. He never smiled, he just dauntingly showed his fangs and looked at you straight in the eye that made you choke on your words. He didnt talk, he only aired silence, creeping silence. And when he did talk, he barked.
He used to scare the hell out of me during my first few encounters with him. *laughs* But as days passed by, I got used to his scrutinizing gaze and occassional wary glance and his remarks. From there, I learnt.

But anyway, that is the story of the king and his empire. I am no longer in his team. But it is nice to know that he still remembers me as his ex-subject. I guess, as non-chalant as the king presents himself, he does remember us three. =)
