Everything seemed to be disconcerted today. When I woke up, the world was spinning around me - it would probably have been fun if it wasn't painful. That coupled with my abdominal cramps made my 20 minutes bus ride to the Princess Margaret's Hospital was quite a sickeningly long, nauseous ride. When I arrived at the class, I was shivering. Few minutes later in the ward, my nostril cells seemed to be ungodly perked up picking up and maximising every odour that was ever-present in the ward - from its septic smell to the familiar stinky urine stench - that it eventually got to me. I cupped my mouth and nose using my hands trying hard to resist the temptation of throwing up. I was shivering and sweating at the same time. Halfway through examining a patient, I turned to my mentor and told him I couldnt go through it and I was feeling sick. I went straight out to where I left my bag and sat for a few minutes trying to calm my throbbing head. Nic ran after me and gave me a couple of pills - I was very touched.

When I finally left the building, the world was too cold. I half imagine penguins waddling on the pavement. I was shaking pretty badly and after a couple of footsteps, I immediately threw up beside the little shrubs, there it went the remains of my meager breakfast that morning - yellow-green stomach contents. I was too sick to even think of how disgusting it was and when I looked up, I saw an elderly woman looking straight into my eyes, agape. I could only muttered sorry and immediately looked away , ashamed that I had left such filth on such a beautiful ground. M really sorry.. -__-"

When I finally reached home, I immediately went straight to bed and slept. So my day was pretty much wasted - I couldnt peel myself away from my bed till tonight. I felt much better now which is good, but I essentially havent met any patients today which is pretty bad considering how I need to practice for my neurological osce next week. Argh. Hopefully sunday will be a good day...

M looking forward to unwind tomorrow (saturday). Friends are coming over tomorrow and we are going to have a winter barbecue. Yay! It has been about 2 months since we held a party in our flat. I miss seeing everyone else again, especially since I am based in a different hospital now. Tomorrow should be a fun day. =)
