(tirelessly) recurrent.

Last friday was one of those weird days when the same thing seemed to happen to someone I knew. Or rather, used to know. Looking back, it was sort of eerie although everything was just a coincidence.. and these things called die and dying and death are everyday phenomenon..

The morning started with me joining my team's wardround, blissfully attending one patient to another - but what started as a routine and uneventful wardround took a different turn when a nurse rushed to my reg, asking for her to see someone in the ward. Mrs C, who had just been admitted under my team's care had came in with a type 2 respiratory failure with a history of renal failure. Just three days previously, I had seen her in the ward, trying to examine her lower limbs as asked by my registrar - and she had been able to mutter a few words then. But, what do you know? She passed away that fateful friday, finally succumbing to her long list of chronic conditions and an ischaemic leg. :(

I spent part of my lunchbreak in the computer room, doing all the usual stuffs. However, a few minutes before my case presentation, I received a message from my cousin. The message was short and simple. My aunt had passed away. Apparently, she had been suffering from colon cancer for God knows how many years. That was news to me. The whole thing was news to me, her being sick, her dying, her died, her death. But I guess, you just cant know everything that's going on.

I came online on msn again that night. And for the third time on the 29th of August, I was told that someone, my elderly neighbour whom I called as nenek, had passed away too. When I was little, I used to bike to his kebun where he grew his own sugarcane and sweetcorns and rambutans and had cheekily asked for sugarcane. But those days were long gone..

Al-fatihah buat mereka..

Hrm. You know what I am thinking of this very moment? That friday actually just accentuates how stupidly dependent people around me can be on msn. Seriously? Msn shouldnt replace proper communication and means of breaking "important" (heck.belated) news. I wonder just how ignorant I would become if I chose not to come online for ages.. And oh, on another unrelated note; I read from my (msn) contacts list pm that Brunei is starting Ramadhan tomorrow (tuesday). We are starting fasting tomorrow too. Selamat menyambut bulan Ramadhan. =)
